DIY Christmas Ornaments

If you’re looking for affordable gift ideas this Christmas, try making these personalized Christmas ornaments. These DIY gifts will not only save money, but they also make a very thoughtful gift for your friends and family. And did we mention they look great on the Christmas tree?

There’s a couple of different ways you can make these Christmas ornaments, depending on the style you are after. In most cases, we recommend having some spare mason jars to place the baubles on top of while they dry.

DIY Personalized Colored Ornaments

These ornaments are really easy to make and can be personalized to suit each individual. Start collection festive ribbon when you see it on sale, and dig out all your old decorations to see if you can reuse any ornaments you have at home. These two tips will really help save money.

You will need:

  • Large colored ornaments
  • Glitter glue pen
  • Festive ribbon

How to make them:
Use the glitter glue pen to write the name on the bauble. We recommend purchasing the largest sized bauble available, as this will make the writing step much easier. When you have written on the bauble, place it on top of a mason jar to dry so the glue doesn’t smudge. Finally, tie on the festive ribbon.

Top Tip: Most of the materials can be purchased from a dollar store to save money.

DIY Glitter Snow Globe Ornaments

These cute ornaments remind of us of snow-globes, and again, they can be customized to suit each member of your family, using different colored glitter, letter stickers and ribbon.

You will need:

  • Clear ornaments
  • Glitter, in a range of colors
  • Letter stickers
  • Small piece of paper
  • Ribbon, string or twine

How to make them:
These ornaments are also very simple to make. First, twist off the metal cap and gently roll a small piece of paper into a funnel. Pour the glitter in the funnel and fill 1/3 or 1/4 of the bauble. Use the letter stickers to spell out the recipient’s name. Add a ribbon, or piece of twine and it will be ready to hang on the Christmas tree.

Top Tip: Try buying the ornaments in a pack or in bulk to save money.
