Save Money: Bathroom Cleaning Ideas

Are you spending too much money keeping your bathroom clean? There is an easier way to keep your bathroom spotless without handing out cash every week for new cleaning products. Find out how to save money by following our helpful bathroom cleaning tips and bathroom ideas.

One of the biggest tips is to make your own cleaning products if you really want to save money. DIY and Natural cleaning products can work just as well, and sometimes better than expensive cleaning products. Often the ones you buy at the supermarket are filled with chemicals and cost a lot of money too. For a cheap and effective solution, try making your own bathroom cleaning products.

1. Shower

For the shower doors, walls and tiles, try this homemade cleaning product that is almost free. Mix white vinegar with baking soda until you have a paste-like consistency. Next, use this paste to scrub all your shower doors. Leave the homemade cleaning product for about an hour while it works its cleaning magic. Then scrub off with a microfiber cloth and let dry naturally.

To maintain a clean shower, we recommend wiping down all faucets, tiles and doors with a microfiber cloth to stop soap scum and other deposits from building up.

2. Bathtub

To keep soap scum at bay in your bathtub, you can use the same homemade cleaning product as you did for your shower. This water and white vinegar mix will make it easier to buff of deposits and keep your tub clean. Again, we recommend wiping down the bathtub after each use to prevent soap scum from building up rapidly.

3. Grout

Don’t worry about expensive scrubbing brushes and grout cleaning kits. We have found the perfect use for your old toothbrush. All you need to do is pair your toothbrush with a house made grout cleaner like the one below:

  • 2 cups water
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice

4. Mirrors

Never buy Windex again! An easy way to clean your mirrors is to create your own cleaner with products you probably already have at home. Again, vinegar and water and transfer into an old spray bottle, maybe even your old Windex bottle. Another money saving tip for mirrors is to ditch the paper towels and wipe your mirrors over with an old newspaper you probably have somewhere is your house. This method cuts out costs for cleaning products, cloths and wipes.

6. Windows

Whenever possible, have the windows in your bathroom open. The natural sunlight and air circulating will stop mildew from growing, which means you won’t have to clean it off later. The best part? This tip is completely free!
